I really like the black and blue card with the black lettering in the blue colored area.

I agree with laurim that you might be cutting it close to being outside of the safe area for printing.

The fruit and vege card looks good to me. I don't think it's too green... I actually like the color. I would think about losing the ".A.D." that's inside the large "P".

Just my opinions though. As mentioned, these are your cards and should ultimately reflect your preferences.

It pays to have an extra set of nunchuks. So far, no problems.

I'm too lazy to test my old nunchuk with other games (all I have are Zelda and Wii Sports) to see if I have a Madden problem or a nunchuk problem, so I'm not sure I have cause to go to Nintendo and ask for a replacement nunchuk...

I was thinking about this on my way home today.

If your driving on the highway you would obviously get better fuel economy if you turned off your A/C. But if you turned off the A/C and opened the windows of your car would the aerodynamics get messed up and reduce your fuel economy. If so by how much. It would obviously depend on the vehicle, but I'm just speaking in general.

Maybe I'll preform an experiment one of these days...

Click and Clack, the official source of this kind of information protest that using the A/C uses less fuel than the drag created by opening the windows (and really killing your aerodynamics).

I finally got my iPod Touch 4G from the US yesterday (after being held up for practically a week thanks to the F-Wits at HM Customs and Excise, plus having to go all the way to Liverpool to pick up the parcel that it was part of hours after coming out of hospital due to a seizure the night before!) and it's not a bad device (it's definitely not the be-all and end-all device that certain people here would make it out to be!), but now I want to jailbreak it so I can customise it in my own unique way (Otaku-style, that is!:D) amongst other things...

The iOS on it is currently 4.1 and when I synced it for the first time, it asked me to download a update which I haven't finished downloading due to my slow connection and even though I've installed CFW on my PSP's and softmodded my Wii, this is a whole other level for me.

I take it that if I did install 4.2.2, I wouldn't be able to jailbreak my iPod Touch until a ailbreak for it was available?

I am not sure if all the computing is done in iPhone or if the application is only an UI that still requires back-end computation on the server. Either way, it doesn't make sense.

It sends it to the website and then sends you the answer.
I see a bookmarking button. Safari has a bookmarking button, too...

    Even on Mac osx?

Yes. Refer to the post below.

First you need to download and install the CUDA Drivers from nVidia http://www.nvidia.com/object/cuda_get.html

You should already be running the latest version of BOINC.

Once you have done these things, you, in theory are ready to start using your GPU in OSX BOINC to crunch stuff.....

    Why isn't it crunching?

Because no apps inside of BOINC (Seti@home, Aqua@home, etc etc etc) have been re-written to take advantage of CUDA on the mac.

It seems Einstein@home is getting close, but for the moment (As of Feb 6th, 2010) nothing in the OSX BOINC world supports CUDA, or OpenCL. Not to be a downer, but don't expect that to change anytime soon. There just aren't enough volunteers with programming knowledge (or programmers that own the proper hardware to test their knowlege) in this area to make it happen quickly.

Please refer to this post. Only a few number of projects can use CUDA on a mac, Collatz Conjecture is one of them that is available right now

If you're looking for ram, I have several sticks of PC133 ram just sitting around after an upgrade. I have 128 and 256 sticks. email me at acgyssl@ilstu.edu if you're interested, and we'll work something out. I'm looking to get rid of them, as I have no use for them. Congrats on the new Mac!

Yes. A switch or router, e.g. from Netgear, LinkSys, would work. If you're downloading large files using the two computers simultaneously, they'd share the bandwidth and slow each other's downloads, but with normal use (browsing, email) you wouldn't notice any difference with having both connected simultaneously. I have four computers often connected simultaneously.

If you're likely to be transferring large amounts of data between the two Macs, get a gigabit switch, which is 10x faster but costs maybe $10 more than a 100Mbit/s switch or router.

In fact, you may not want wireless now, but may in the future, so getting a wireless router like blevins suggested means you could connect e.g. an iPad, or let a friend or family member connect when visiting. You can turn off the wireless when not in use.

How long is a piece of string?

You really need to answer the following:
    - The budget
    - What is the site actually going to do?
    - Project scope/Timeline
    - Functionality of the overall site
    - Expected idea of how the big/small the site will be

It's like going into a car dealership saying "can I please have one car in blue?", yes you can get it but it has no limitations of purpose and budget...

This is precisely what I am afraid of. Why might a higher resolution, i.e., a screen with more detail, sharper images, sharper texts, make it harder or more of a strain to see/read? Is it only because the texts are smaller?

Well the higher res means that they can fit more detail on the screen by effectively shrinking the text etc because because it wont look pixelated and will give more space. Now thats fine on a large screen, but when it comes to the MBA and other netbooks, particularly the 11" MBA, the screen size is physically quite small, so the detail is shrunk even further in order to maintain the same ratio and high res. Difficult to explain and maybe somebody could do better than me.

Its fine generally as it's perfectly readable and makes for a nice amount of usable real estate on the screen, but it does encourage squinting, even for somebody with 20/20 vision.

i had the same probelm until it dawned on me i could just use the horrible windoze media killer from XP on VPC...
That's what I would have used too, if WMP wasn't so jerky on VPC as to be almost unusable...good thing I have a Windows PC (that isn't connected to the Internet, thank god) I can use if absolutely necessary.

You might consider Apple Developer Connection student discount. I have posted a couple of times recently about this.

Look up the thread "20-25% Discount for students"

Been about 10 years since I last spent a significant amount of time with Macs but I wanted to try OSX and it was time to get a new machine for my day-to-day computing chores (word processing, internet, finances, music, archiving, etc.). Didn't need to be powerful and I didn't want to spend a lot of money but I wanted something portable so I got an 800Mhz ibook. I couldn't justify spending another $300 on the 900Mhz model just to get the combo drive since I already have a firewire burner I can use at home. Besides, if I spent an extra $300 for that, I may as well spend another $300 and get a 12" powerbook. Then I'd be a long way from my cheap computer. ;)

It took just a few hours for my iBook to make a mockery of many Switch ads. I knew they were BS when they first aired but I was surprised to see so many contradicted in the first few hours.

My email didn't import properly. All of the folders are there but most of the big ones are empty or only have a single message. :P I also had a crash the first night. I came back to the computer and found a black display. At first I thought it'd just gone to sleep but the light wasn't flashing and the screen's backlight was still on. Then there were the drivers. I actually had to download drivers for my MP3 player and printer. The horror. ;)

But enough griping. I really do like my little iBook. It runs OS X great. The battery life is better than I expected (and I haven't even done any power-saving tweaking). I've got 60 gigs of space which is enough to carry everything I need and a lot of stuff I don't need. The airport card works with my old wireless gateway. I've been able to find software to do just about everything I did on the PC. The sleep mode is awesome. I still can't get over the recovery time. It's ready to go by the time I get the screen angle adjusted. After that initial crash, it's been rock solid. I've only rebooted after installing drivers and I think I've got them all loaded now. The next reboot will probably be for an OS update.

The screen is bright and the fan hardly ever comes on, even if the CPU is running at 100%. (I installed the folding@home client so I could see how often the fan would kick in.) Even with the CPU at 100% and the airport card turned on, battery life is still decent.

Okay, a couple more gripes. WTF is up with the one-button mouse? Yeah, I know. "Get a real mouse." I did. A nice cordless optical mouse. But that doesn't help me when I'm on the move. I don't want to lug extra stuff around. Why can't my track pad have two buttons?

And what's the deal with anti-aliasing? Why does everything need to be "smoothed"? Makes it look like I've got the display set at the wrong resolution. I put TinkerTool on there but it seems that some apps just ignore the setting and "smooth" the fonts anyway. Come on, Apple. Let ME decide how I want text presented on MY computer. Put a "none" option in there and make it stick.
